In the Bathroom

by Sofie Fowler

Found in an old notebook with “In the Bathroom” scrawled at the top of the page.

Someone once said take only photographs, leave only footprints.

Static still frame photographs.

Fragments of time we don’t remember.

Same time.

Same room.

Same air.

We don’t remember how close we were and now it’s so far, there’s no mark left to make. No footprints.

Your big brown eyes

don’t fool me.

Take your photographs,

leave my footprint.
